Patricia Cross earned a BS degree in Dance from Skidmore College, Saratoga Springs, New York. She founded Adirondack Dance Theater and Adirondack Ballet Company sponsored by the State University of New York in Plattsburgh. Since moving to Nashville, Patrica has taught at Belmont University, Vanderbilt University, Harding Academy, Jody’s School of Performing Arts, Smartt Steps, Opryland USA and Christ Church Nashville. Ms. Cross has choreographed 30 original children’s ballets as well as staged a full length ‘Nutcracker,’ ‘Sleeping Beauty,’ ‘Coppelia,’ ‘Les Sylphides,’ and ‘La Sylphide.’ In 1990 Ms. Cross founded Rejoice Ministries, Inc. to support children from low income families so that all children could participate in learning the beautiful art of ballet and learn how to use their gifts to honor and praise God.
Catherine Couey began her dance training at the age of four, at the children’s ballet school just down the street from her home. At thirteen, she traded her childhood studio for a dance studio with wider offerings, but through the myriad other dance styles she studied, ballet remained the most moving, meaningful, and beautiful. After graduating from the University of the South with a degree in psychology, Catherine moved to Nashville. One serendipitous event led to another, and she now finds herself honored with the opportunity to teach children the same age she was when she began dancing. She hopes that her enthusiasm for and love of ballet will help her students find the same joy in ballet that she discovered as a child.
